Weather
The Whitsunday is located 20°4'S and 148°5'E. This tropical climate together with the Great Barrier Reef only a few kilometers East provides for one of the best climatic conditions in the world, perfect for your holiday enjoyment. Our water temperature ranges from 23°C in winter to 28°C in summer, so if you're thinking of escaping the winter chills, then the Whitsundays is the place to be.
Climate
The climate is sub-tropical being just above the Tropic of Capricorn. January is the warmest month with a daily average maximum temperature of 30°C and a daily average minimum around 25°C. July is the coolest month with daily average maximum temperature of 23°C and a daily average minimum around 16°C. The winter minimum can fall considerably only a few kilometres inland from the coast.
The Whitsundays are on the same Latitude as the Fiji Islands. They offer sunny tropical weather virtually all year round. The water temperature varies from 23°C in winter to 28°C in summer and the islands are protected from ocean swells by the Great Barrier Reef. Summers are hot and balmy with frequent showers, but even these are warm and refreshing. The trade winds are usually stronger between May and August, however you can expect sailing breezes almost every day.
